Sandmines March 27th report

Postby ivbeenrokd on Sat Mar 27, 2010 5:03 pm

We hit the trail at about 9:30 had no problems to speak of, made it to the play ground by about 11:00-11:15 and hit a few things there, took the cherokee up the V notch but had to winch it up the final part due to a choice of lay it over or winch it. Ate lunch at the top of the V notch. Made it out of the trail by about 1:30 just taking our time down the back side. Did some short sight seeing on the east side for a few minutes before hitting the road home.

I'll try to get some pics and/or videos up as soon as dad emails them to me.

Everyone else be sure to post your pics/vids too.

we hit the trail at about 11:00 (with a full belly) eased along to the top with no problems. some of us ran the rock garden at the top and some of us (AHEM...matt) didn't. moved on to the V notch...made easy work of that...cruised out the back side and to the truck about 5ish. had a good time and no breakage. was rather impressed with jeff's jeep. i think he likes it with the low first gear in it.

Randy - Where is that rock garden? It's something new from when I was on that trail......2 years ago. Sounds like a good ride.

we finaly got to the trail at 4:00 , just my grand and tylers yota on 38's, got to the top in about an hour or so, played at the pond for a while, drove through the LAKE that comes half way up my doors, then had to work on the toyota to try to get it to run for about an hour, after that made it to the V notch. the first time up went way to smooth and tempted me to try it again, bad idea! On the second go i slid my drivers tires into the V, wedged it in and nearly layed it over, after hooking up the cable, my front locker decided to give out so i just had rear wheel drive, an hour and a half later i finally got backed down and on our way out! we got to the gas station and aired up about 9 or so. i have never been so close to laying it over.

i will try to get some pics up later

Had a great time riding yesterday. Thanks for "pesuading" me into doing the rock garden Randy and Mike, and thanks for the good spotting!

like Gary said, it's just to the right of the pond thru the woods. it's kinda down in a hole so it's not easily seen from the "trail" that goes around the pond. it's only about 100 yards long or so, but it's fun. i'd have to think there's a few more places like that up there somewhere...they blasted too much rock for that to be all of it.

Your right ! Micheal Evans knows where some of those places are and we are going to try to get up there to work on them. He said only the entrances and exits need to be cut.

Scott - sounds like your 2nd try on the notch landed you where dad's 1st try landed him.

Did Jeff get on the rock garden too???

Hopefully dad will send me some pics sometime in the next year so I can post them up.

Love the difference the NP435 makes over the T150. However I had to stay in 1st a lot more than I wanted to due to the motor not wanting to cooperate. Kind of see that rock garden being just a little bit out of my league  , but with Mike and Randy spotting who knows what can be accomplished.

Couple more pictures, most of what she had was from the pond.
